Top tips for planning a wedding in 6 months

The South West has spent the last few weeks under water, not literally, but it has very much felt that way! The wonderful weather we enjoyed in May seems like a lifetime ago and whilst the forecast would imply we are due some sun again soon, at present we here at Priston Mill spent most of last week feeling almost autumnal. It would appear we are not the only ones, as we have seen a sprinkling of our couples looking to get married this Autumn/Winter.4-7 months is plenty of time to plan you dream day, often giving yourself less time to question your decisions makes the whole process less stressful. We have some great dates still available October 2019 – March 2020 and also have a Winter Wedding offer running from the 1st November (exclusive of the time between Christmas & New Year). The venue hire is significantly reduced giving you a little extra to spend on the decorations etc.

Here are our top tips for planning your wedding in 6 months:

Don’t panic:

There may be boxes that need to be ticked asap but asap still means you have time. If you want a dress to be made for you from a bridal boutique we would suggest you do that fairly sharpish. A lot of boutiques have dresses ready to wear, and each year the high street is doing better and better in creating amazing alternatives for brides and their maids. If you call a band and they are busy, just call another one. Winter is still seen as out of season so it won’t be too hard to find the right supplier on the right date.

You won’t have to ask twice:

Stationary can be one of those hidden costs you don’t think about until the time comes, and can be more expensive than you might have thought. If you are getting married in months rather than years, you can save time and cost by sending out your invitations straight away. With less notice in advance, your guests won’t need a save the dates so skip the middle man and pop the invites out in the post 3-4 months before you say ‘I Do’.

Trust us:

Six months may not seem long enough to you but to us it is more than enough time. Trust in that we know what we’re doing, by choosing Priston Mill you have chosen our team to look after you and make sure your day runs without a hitch. You have plenty of time to look over our menus and choose your food and drink choices, and we are always on hand if advice is required. You have time to plan your decorations, our social media channels are a great source of inspiration. Trust us, you have time.

It will be amazing rain or shine:

If these damp few days have taught us anything, it is that you cannot predict the weather. A huge plus to getting married Autumn/Winter means that you are not banking on the sun shining but instead you get to get married amongst the berries and the robins!  If it is cold and crisp, then perfect but if you wake up and it is raining, that’s ok too. Our venues have beautiful backdrops inside for your wedding photos, and professional photographers know to grab a moment in the dry whenever the rain subsides should you want to go outside.
