And a Happy New Year!

Everyone here at Priston Mill tend to use this time of year to reflect on the last 12 months. 2018 was a wonderful year for our team, full of change, progression and of course, beautiful weddings.

I am sure you can all remember The Beast from the East. We certainly won't forget it as we had three events on that chilly weekend in March. As a team, everyone pulled together to make sure our chefs had their ingredients, our staff could get into work and our couples had the best day of their lives.

Our groundsmen did an amazing job clearing the country lanes each morning. Our Event Managers even pitched in and grabbed a shovel - it was all hands on deck. If nothing else the photos captured from one of those weddings were breath-taking.

In contrast this Summer proved to be one of the hottest on record. We did feel for our Grooms as they arrived in their smart suits, sweltering from the heat. However whilst our venues have excellent heating in place they are also the ideal spot to escape the sun.

We enjoyed a beautiful few months where the gardens looked stunning and the team worked tirelessly to make sure everyone was having a fabulous time.

This year we welcomed three new members to our team. We are lucky to have Chris who has joined our kitchen staff on a full-time basis. Gabe has worked his way up from waiting staff to Kitchen help and is about to start his training as an Event Manager. Jake made a smooth transition from our sister venue, Coombe Lodge, to help us run events and has had nothing but great feedback since.

In October we were named as a Regional Finalist for the South West Countryside Wedding Venue of 2019 in The Wedding Industry Awards. Some of our team were honoured to go and attend the awards, held at Rockbeare Manor near Exeter in Devon.

In just the past couple of months our team have embraced a big change when Peter & Christine Hopwood retired. They had been at the Priston Mill helm for over 20 years, and have seen us grow from a working farm , to a tourist destination, to a beautiful wedding venue. They continue to work on site so we are lucky enough to catch up now and then.

The silver lining to their retirement was moving into a brand new and very sparkly office space. Our maintenance team worked around the clock to create what is now an open, fresh, light and enjoyable place to work. The Stables, as our office is known, is right next to The Tythe Barn and so very convenient for our visits and appointments. 

This is the space we will be hiding in until the New Year, getting our rather delicious 2019 menus together to send out to all of our lovely couples. The menus are slightly different but just as exciting and we cannot wait to share them with you all.
