The Watermill at Priston Mill

Given by King Athelstan to the monks of Bath Abbey in the 10th century, the Watermill, is quite simply the kind of location people dream of.

The Watermill in Somerset is an enchanting and ancient building. Steeped in history, it is a fascinating and unique setting for a wedding.

As you and your guests enter the grounds of the Watermill, you will be captivated by the picturesque private gardens and the grand panorama of the rolling countryside beyond. A small brook runs beside the gardens, with wooden seating arranged on manicured lawns, an attractive pagoda, ideal for outdoor wedding ceremonies and a wonderful pergola.

This pergola, with it's garland of scented flowers and the gentle sound of water bubbling over the central millstone water feature, is an arbour of tranquility.

The gardens offer a relaxed setting, where, with a glass of fizz in hand, you can spend time with your family and friends.

Guests in the Watermill Garden

When you hold your wedding at the Watermill wedding venue, the building is exclusively yours. As you step through the historic doorway, you will be greeted by the gentle, rumbling sounds of the ancient waterwheel and the spectacular rotating gears and cogs.

The three floors of the Watermill, which is not far from Bath or Bristol, are easily accessed by stairs or lift. On the first floor there is an amazing view through glass floor panels, of the huge iron waterwheel.

The main reception floor successfully combines the feeling of spaciousness with one of intimacy. There is a wonderful view aloft high into the rafters and yet, with hessian wall hangings across the arches, the room provides a private, smaller area for the ceremony.

For a wedding or dinner party we can set up to nine round tables for the meal providing seating for up to 90 guests. Draped in white linen, they provide an elegant backdrop for your wedding colour scheme.

The timeless, grey slate windowsills look equally stylish decorated with only candles and a little ivy, as they do with impressive garlands or professionally-arranged flowers.
